Pori Urundai is a traditional recipe made for Karthikai Deepam. These are healthy to consume during tea time. While preparing Pori Urundai, strain your jaggery syrup, which is very important. For crispyness of Urundai you should open the Pori from the pack just before you add to the jaggery syrup.

Popped Beaten rice flakes /
Popped Paddy flakes - 4 cups
Jaggery - 1 1/2 cups
Coconut cut into bits - 1/4 cup
Dry Ginger powder - 1/2 tsp
Cardoman powder - 1/2 tsp

Method:
# Heat a pan add jaggery syrup and let it boil well. To check consistency of the jaggery syrup, pour the syrup in water and roll it with your fingers, it should turn into ball shape.

# Add cardoman powder, dry ginger powder, bits of coconut pieces, and mix well.
# In a tray clean the popped Beaten Rice flakes, & winnow the husk.
# Add fried Chana and pour the Jaggery syrup and mix well.
# Apply rice flour in your palms before preparing the Sweet balls.
# When you roll the ball for the first time, don't worry about the shape ... roll it for the second time & the sweet ball will get the round shape and also it will firmly hold together.
Store these Pori Urundais in air tight container to maintain the crispness.
